Re: Relocating at the GSP Nationals?

Well now the truth comes out. This sounds more like PPH, which we are guilty of and not PPJ. Tough break, but a little better handling would have taken care of this. Brad I never watch the bird, you need to concentrate on your dog, that is why I tell the gunner to tell me yes or no, but it sounds li...

Now you are getting into the area of, simply poor judges. Roberts it is the fault of the gunner for not telling the handler that the bird is hit, with that, it is now the handlers option to send or not to send, but with him sending the dog if that dog bumbed a dozen birds, he is in retrieve mode, th...

Scott I remember when Dougy boy was throwing dogs out that pushed up birds during the retrieve and that is what you get when you have non GSP people judging. This is a good subject and I think I need to jump in. First if you do not relocate your dog you are admitting to a fault, the same as going to the extreme to avoid a back, so unless it is a case of “there is no way of getting a bird out or the dog is pointed into a fence that you can’t get on the ot...

Re: EXTREMELY gun shy! please help

Having a dog get bird crazy may work, but may also give you more problems later, like when it’s time to break the dog. What you need to do (and this works for a multitude of problems), find yourself a pro or a buddy that is bird working a bunch of dogs. Stake the dog out in the middle of the other d...
