Re: Table Vs. Barrel Vs. Blocks

I agree the command is not complicated, but few people take the time to fully train the command. The command isn't trained until the dog can be stopped at a distance on command w/o influence of e-collar or checkcord and will not move under any circumstance i.e. game walking under their nose until th...

Re: Stakes?

Has anybody used this type of stake?

I am looking to buy a stake and for information on training a horse to stakeout.

Thanks

This was the best I could find. I am happy with mine, but only had it for 1/2 year.

Re: Aggression - suggestions?

There are all different levels of "aggressive" dogs. Some are all show, some are easy to correct, and some are truely aggressive and you trying to "dominate" over the dog will only cause it to raise it's level of aggression. I've learned you have nothing to gain with trying to deal with an aggressiv...

Re: range in hunting dogs

I can confirm that I heard that bell at 9/10ths of a mile in the grouse woods last October, according to the Garmin. Now, I'll admit that is was in near-perfect conditions; perfectly still evening with no breeze and all of the leaves down. Great, but how far can you hear that bell in typical grouse...

Re: range in hunting dogs

Where can I get a bell I can hear 400 yards away in the grouse woods? Garmin makes them   Great! Three collars on the dog. Shock collar transmitter in one hand, Garmin in the other. I need a porter to carry my gun for me.  The beeper is as advanced as I get and I don't always...

Re: range in hunting dogs

I have seen grouse dogs in trials that run bigger than what either of us is talking about, out to three maybe four hundred yards . The really good ones have such great noses and manners on birds that, as I said earlier, you really don't care where they are as long as you can find them when the bell...

Concrete sealer

I am in the process of putting up kennels. The concrete is poured. Should I seal the concrete? If so, what type of sealer? I see there is a sealer designed for kennels - http://dogkennelfloors.com/ is this worth the expense? Can I get something just as good at the hardware store?

Thanks

Re: Submissive Peeing

I agree that is is a genetic issue that would get passed to some of the offspring. It isn't something you want in your line of dogs, but if the dog is good enough it is something you could live with. There are dogs with much bigger issues than peeing getting bred that affect the hunting ability of t...

Submissive Peeing

I have a pup that is submissive peeing. I am questioning the stability of the dog because of this. She is not shy or scared, but is on the softer side. She is 5 months old. What is your experience with submissive pee-ers? Would you breed a dog with this problem if she turns out to be a very good gun...

Re: Wolf or Coyote???

Where are you from? Wolves do not cohabitate with coyotes. Wolves will go out of their way to kill a coyote even when they are not hungry. We have a fair number of both Timber wolves and Coyotes were I live. (Iron Range Northern Minnesota) The two do co-habitate here. They run the same ridges, fiel...

Re: Wolf or Coyote???

A friend of mine had this show up on his trailcam and was wondering if it is a wolf or coyote. What do you think? Thanks. I have called in and killed a number of coyotes and I guarantee that is not a coyote. Wolves do not cohabitate with coyotes. Wolves will go out of their way to kill a coyote eve...

Re: DRAHTHAAR????

Adam, I've had DDs for 18 years, owned over 15 DDs. I attend many VDD events as well as NAVHDA events. My DDs have yet to eat a bite anyone, despite my boys rough handling of dogs in their younger years. My boys have pulled beards, used miscellaneous body parts for handles, sat on, inspected mouths,...
