I think it is definetly worth keeping birds on hand. Especially this time of year if you are wanting to train. I have pheasants and deer on the wall. My shorthair pays em no attention. Good to hear you getting kids in the outdoors. That first bird is a special one. Make sure you take pics they will last a lifetime.

I have hunted some of the other spots in IL for controlled pheasant hunts. I was goin to go ahead and get a spot reserved online instead of messin with the draw. anyone hunt Moraine view in IL for pheasant
Was thinkin about heading over there. We normally try to get to jim edgar a coulple times a year but its always packed. Was wondering if anyone had any experience or advice. Would like to know how they do the draw. Also how the habitat is? Just kind of wanting to know if its worth the drive. thanks

Thank you all for the replies and comments and yah he has already became the house dog pretty much. Although I know he is dyin to get out and run. I know its not the end of the world if amputation has to happen just want him to be able to do what he loves to do.

My Gsp escaped from his kennel in early july due to a thunderstorm. He was hit by a car and it broke his right rear leg. He had surgery and had a plate and screws put in along with a bone graph. thanks for all the input. Sounds like they are hit and miss on working or not. Think i will just stick with making a silhouette and hiding it behind stuff for now. Hope they can tell its a dog with my drawing thanks for the replies.
