There are those that will laugh, but personally, I think there is a pretty serious cool factor and they fit your bill for hunting both Upland and Waterfowl, are Hypo-allergenic and should measure just over 15" at the whithers..... a STANDARD POODLE. I am currently at the AKC Gun Dog Championship. I arrived last Monday in the afternoon. I do not ride a horse so all that I have seen personally has been at the breakaways or small portions of the course as the brace makes a road transition from one side to the other and I have not seen all braces....

You can't go wrong with a Tri Tronic, but as others have said, buy as much range as you can afford. In the Grouse woods or hilly terrain, range will go way down on any brand of collar due to line of sight and cover. Have a dog get on a Deer and see how fast they are out of range! Whichever brand you choose, choose the ISO Standard chips. I personally chip with the AKC CAR chips. They're just slightly more expensive than the "bargain" chips.
