Re: How many generations has your family kept the same breed?

5 Generations, yes 5! My great grandfather introduced my grandfather to bird hunting when he was a boy, they had a little Brittany. My grandfather had a Golden Retriever here and there but always had a Brittany around. My father and my uncle carried on the tradition as we had several Brittanys growi...

Bird Pen Ideas?

The Northern Nevada Brittany Club is in need of your ideas for a portable, lightweight bird pen that can be put up and taken down in a matter of minutes. Our old pen was built out of 1 1/2 inch PVC and chicken wire. The PVC is cracked, broken, and we would like to start over with something that woul...

Re: Brittany Puppies Birth Weights?

Just another perspective: my small bitch 18"/27 lbs.(normal weight) just whelped a healthy litter of 7 on 3/25/10, the smallest was 10.8 and the largest was 12.5oz. I was expecting a little smaller as well, since she was the runt of her litter only weighing in at 7.2 oz. I fed my dam as much as she ...

Re: Brittany Question

I have a little Brittany bitch who loves to hunt bunnies almost as much as she loves to hunt birds. Last week in all her 7 weeks along pregnant glory she plucked a baby bunny out of the bush and retrieved it to hand, although it's not the best thing when she chases them at a field trial.... :?

Good luck to you for a successful hunt test! They are a lot of fun when they go smoothly. All of these are really good suggestions. Just an idea for your next hunt test, find another club to do one with you. Our club tries to match up with the GSP club here in Nevada to hold a double hunt test. They...

Itchy Bitch

That sounds weird, I know.... Possibly a strange question, is there something in the hormones when a female is in heat that can make her itch? My bitch has been in standing heat for about 3-4 days now and has been bred, however, during the past few days she has acted like she's got ants crawling on ...

Good job! The only good yote is a dead one. :D We had to shoot one right in our yard a couple weeks ago, came right up to us in broad daylight, middle of the day, brazen son of a gun. I've got a small son, a small Brit and a litter of pups on the way, I can't have them around.

Being that she's developed it before, and it being a Friday when your vet may not be opened on the weekend, I would have her checked out to be on the safe side... when it comes to pups and the well being of the bitch, I always go on the side of caution... good luck, 13 pups is quite a handfull. I've got 14 people on my waiting list right now for pups and 12 of them want a female. Most say they want a female for the reasons stated above, the buyers think they're better house dogs, more loyal etc. The ones who want males want them because they already have an alpha female.

Definately the white vinegar. It helps for the offender not to pee there again as well. Once the white vinegar has dried, of course, it smells like vinegar, so I use febreeze fabric spray to make it smell nice again.
