I get a few guys who raise their snooty noses at me when they see it, but I've fed Iams ProActive chunks for years because it's what my dogs do best on. I've tried half a dozen others but keep coming back to Iams for consistency and availability. It's a 23/13 food that you can buy dang near ANYWHERE...

Sailor - I don't know of a single American DD that has been trained to sit (or lay) on point. In Europe, some are trained to lay flat on their bellies when game is located, and I was told it was for safety reasons to keep the dog down during shooting.

Meatballs - just a technicality, but Droll is not actually out of Wiredhaus kennel. Jack imported him from Donaueck kennel in Germany a number of years ago.

There are vastly more GSPs & GWPs than DKs & DDs in the U.S. I think that is a reflection of the qualities desired in their gun dogs by the majority of owners in the U.S. I agree with this to a point, Mark, but I also believe its reflects the fact that most Average Joes who want to breed their dogs...

My personal preference on the choices you stated above would be 20ga Benelli M2 and Benelli 20ga Montefeltro. They're both excellent guns IMO.

Howie - try putting hotdog chunks every 6'-8' along the track to keep him interested.
Space them further as he keeps his nose down on subsequent tracks.
That usually helps get them conditioned to working the track and getting rewarded.

Most dogs lose a good portion of their beard during hunting season due to burrs and just running cover in general. Mine have a full beard grown back in 4-6 mos and keep it til hunting season starts again.
