thanks guys i'm looking for a dog to hunt grouse so want a close to medium range dog, do you guys have any suggestions on breeders or bloodlines that i should look into, for this type of dog.

I've been looking around at dogs and have been helping my friend train his dog, thus the pigeon question.

I really like the looks of pointers and i was wondering if pointers are a good dog for first time owner and handler.

I'm looking at getting some pigeons for training and i read some were that you can tie a piece of garden hose to a string and then to the pigeon so it can only fly so far and then you can get it back to use again. I was wondering if anyone has tried this and how big was the piece of garden house you...

I see on another board that this dog won her 17th championship which just seems amazing. She must be considered one of the top females of all time. I was wondering what dogs she is out of.

I talked to the owner and he said the dog in question came from a litter of fourteen and she was the smallest when born, and she is very healthy he said he thinks the small size is because of the litter size.

She come for a very reputable cover dog breeder and the owner that has her now has had very good dogs that he trials, and said she is just to small and doesn't run big enough, he figures she will be about 25 - 30lbs.

I've come across a english pointer that someone is selling because of her small size. She is 16lbs at 7months is this way under ave. how big do you think this dog will be?

If it's way under ave. for a english pointer is there any health problems that i have to look for.

thanks neil i'm not very versed in the trial formates but yes i did mean pointer stakes as that is what mostly wins the american field all age stakes from what i read.

I have a question when looking at brittany's i see that they have there own ack breed club nationals. I was wondering how big to all age dogs have to run in akc compared to the american field all age trials. neil that is really nice to here about that french britt is that ack trials or american fiel...

not looking to start a fight but i was wondering if there is any difference between american and french britts besides price, number of breeders and color.

thanks for all the information guys, i found the post about brittany's being one of the quickest learning breeds to be very interesting and one of the reasons i'm intrigued by the breed.

do most people with brittany experience find them quick learners and easy to handle in the field

i've been looking at brittany's as i really like them, and the reason i asked this question is when i look at the pedigrees on alot of websites you see alot of the same dogs farther back in the pedigrees. the all age dogs look to be a little bigger statured dogs. I guess what i'm getting at what dog...

Just curious but the wirehairs i seen were pretty big and heavy dogs, i was wondering if the dogs you guys are running tend to be lighter than the navhda dogs or are the build of all wirehairs about the same.

Someone told me that they have horse back trails for german wirehairs and i found this interesting because the couple of wirehairs i have seen have not been big running dogs. I was just wondering if there are other wirehair trials besides navhda and who breeds for bigger running german wirehairs.

I've narrowed my search down and i think a brittany is the right dog for us. I'm just wondering what breeders or bloodlines should i look to for in a brittany for grouse hunting. I'm looking for a dog that is biddable, medium ranging and on the smaller side of the standard also i would want a femle....

breeding question

I was wondering if you guys disquailify a dam or sire from your breeding program becaue of tail set, or if the tail has a curve in it.

I had a fellow tell me he wouldn't breed a dog that didn't have a poker strait tail i had never heard of not breeding because of a bad tail but i could be wrong>
