Re: How Awsome Are GOOD Hunting Preserves
Quail Country Hunts. I spend alot of time there. Todd and I are partners on some dogs and I do quite a bit of guiding there, dog training, and of coarse hunting with friends. I also enjoy running that old prick Jack's Elhew dogs into the ground. Do you hunt in the league? Where are you located? I'm...

I live in Illinois as well and I'm lucky enough to have some private land to hunt on, but I try not to over due my use...both to stay in good graces and to leave good bird numbers. I have mine within 40 feet of my dogs and, other than working the dogs up when they fly back to the coop, it doesn't hurt a thing with the training in my opinion. I also know a few pros who have theirs within 5o feet of their kennels as well.

I guess your dog will eventually associate the other dog with meaning to "whoa" but in my non-expert opinion i like for the dog to understand why they should stop when they see another dog pointing. I like to hide the other dog (cut out or real) and when the dog comes around the corner and visualize...

I understand your point, but not all dogs are slow, methodical, nose to the ground trackers. My dogs, and some of the others I’ve hunted over, do not put their noses to the ground unless the track gets very tough. They usually run the track, sometimes flat out, with their heads up, and point the bi...

Out of curiosity what did you use to cut the tails? and did you do your own dew claws as well? The last litter I raised I did the tails myself( I was afraid I would get boxer tails) , they turned out really nice, I marked the tails where they would cover the pups "privates" and that is where I cut.

If the breeder you got the dog from didn't specify you had to include their kennel name you can name her what you want. Some include bits and pieces, or make a play on the parents names etc. but it's really up to you. Many name the dog one thing officially and have a different call name alltogether.

I have had a few of these for pups and adults. I made my own instead of buying the kit. I used plastic hog flooring for the floor. I haven't noticed that they go to the house part anymore/less than a ground level kennel but it does make it harder to go in after them.
