I think 18 is the same as mine. Either way, if he can fit two coonhounds in one box then one GSP should fit fine. I agree with Ultracarry...I'd rather them lay down than try to stand.

Looks good. I'm a pretty advanced weekend carpenter (with most tools you can think of) and have built a few things with basic hand tools. It makes me better appreciate the buildings, furniture etc. that were built years ago. Those guys must have been some kinda craftsmen!

I've used a weighted teather (length of a garden hose) tied to the pigeons leg to reduce their flight distance and make them easier to re-catch. I'm sure you're aware that the downside of this is it makes it easier for the pup to catch the birds also. Good luck.

Are you gonna continue to drive that far long term? If it were mine I'd find a good all life stages food that's easily obtainable in your area and transition now and lose the puppy food. I know you your not supposed to switch abruptly but it sounds like your gonna switch eventually anyway.

We may be getting lost in semantics but in my view while your transitioning from the check chord to the collar your still teaching until it's mastered. I've seen several guys start with the collar while still using the whoa post in order to transition.

I don't know any who use the collar to initially introduce "whoa" but there are plenty who use the collar (around the flank and/or neck) to reinforce the command and extend their reach for teaching.

did you see his parents? that's roughly what size he'll be. You said he's 15...15 weeks, months etc? If he's 15 weeks see the previous. If he's 15 months he probably won't grow a lot more in height but will fill out.

No. Secured the 2xs with brackets then ratchet strapped the box to both. It's not a real smooth ride for the dogs so we didn't ride real hard.

We used to mount plastic dog crates on the back rack of a standard ATV. Their light so when you add the dogs it's not so rear heavy. We mounted some 2x runners across the rack to widen and raise it then mounted the crates to the rack facing backwards. Sorry don't have a pic.
