I am getting ready to start back building boxes here in N Texas. I have personally hauled them in single digit temps, keeping dogs in the box all night and checked inside temps and it is in the mid-upper 50's.

I am hoping I can make a few contacts to get on some of these larger private places or possibly lease some land.

Re: Post dogs on Point!!!!
This was a point here in central Florida yesterday with my young Strut male. Had a tough time finding this covey (wild birds) as he was right at 30 yards away. Knew there had to be birds as he slammed point and was locked in. I've been out to this area a few times and was surprised there are so many...

Re: Recall Question?
There are a few who replied who have tons of experience and to me there is zero chance this dog is collar wise. I have only had one that as collar wise and that was when I attempted to run him at nstra trials and it was only because this dog knew the birds weren't supposed to be out in the field, bu...

Is it hard finding land in Texas to hunt on? We are getting ready to move to TX from Florida and I am anxious to start finding some good spots.

Re: Heating a 6 hole trailer
I did a LOT of temperature testing before and after I began building my dog boxes and I came up with a lot of interesting data. My question is, is this insulated? What material, aluminum? If it is insulated, do you know how much in floor, walls and ceiling? It definitely matters and makes a huge dif...

Re: Who makes the best dog box?
You can search my posts and see the one's I am building. I've had or seen most every top brand out there and can tell you none come close to these. They are 100% stainless, tig welded...not riveted and build to last you as long as you can hunt. I am getting ready to do a run of 2 hole boxes to be re...

Doc,
I agree with you. I don't see how this could fly. But I don't trust our leaders and wanted to share it.

Re: Illinois ready to introduce gun ban BIG TIME!
True, but this isn't even an assault ban. This affects deer hunters, field trialers, skeet shooters, etc....
They are trying to get this done during the lame duck session and sneak it through.

Birds in OK & KS
With moving to OK earlier this year I want to get familiar with a few places to go hunt, prefer public walk in land. So does anyone know how birds are out around Woodward or Beaver, OK or up in Larned or Meade, KS? I realize the drought has really hurt the numbers but figure there's got to be some b...

Re: 3x3x8 Alfalfa
The big bales work great and right now with hay being in very short supply in many area's they are easier to come by plus they will be quite a bit cheaper. I used to broker Alfalfa in to Ocala, Fl and other parts of the SE and there is a BIG difference in the quality of the hay, depending on where i...

I know several who keep a ton of pigeons with their TN reds and bob whites and have done it for years and they haven't ever had a problem. I have recently started keeping some together myself and haven't had an issue either.

Re: NSTRA - How does it compare?
NSTRA is a good venue. I got into running it about 3 years ago and only do a handful of trials a year adn with a recent move, it looks like I am going to have to travel much farther than the 7 minutes I was previously away from the trial grounds. A lot ot chat on here about some of the details and I...

Re: To insulate or not to insulate, that is the ???
Here are some temp results from testing one of my boxes last August. Also, I went with Stainless on everything because it is a much more dense metal where aluminum is softer and it will hold more heat than ss, well it also will last forever and look brand new. But, I can place my hand on top of one ...

Re: To insulate or not to insulate, that is the ???
As I have been building my new line of stainless boxes this year I spend a good bit of time with temp testing in 90 degree weather in June with dogs in the box. The the boxes I am building are either single walled ss or double walled and 1" insulation, floor-ceiling and walls. Now these boxes have 7...

Where in KY are there good places to hunt quail? I am in SC and brothers are in IN. I'd try meeting them there to hunt if I could find a decent place.
