I prefer a beeper in heavy cover or when running several pups.
Set to only go off while the pups on point... or not moving.

I use the synthetic teeing material used on golf course driving ranges. Most courses that have a range will have some old mat material. Right at an inch thick, rubber backed with an astro turf type surface. Lasts for ever, easy to clean. If its going to get extremely cold just had a little hay or st...

+1! What he said. cheers The beepers can be obnoxious, but not more than hearing people whistle and yell trying to find their dogs! If you run them on the silent mode they make way less noise than a bell constantly clanging away. I almost always use one, and if you hunt thick cover or steep country,...

My little setter can run hard all day in the Texas heat. I've hunted her from AZ to NM to KS and all over Tx. Cant say she sheds much at all and is a real sweetheart. Low key and laid back till the beeper collar is on, then is all business all day. Best of luck! http://www.fototime.com/F7B2F429F2FC4...

Try backing the truck into a ditch to lower the distance from ground to tailgate. Start with that and the dog will be much more likely to make the jump. After they are used to that they will not give a second thought to loading up on flat ground. More great advise. Thanks. The dogs may be so aware ...

Do you intend to go to two dogs and stop? If you do you may want to look at an older dog. Then in 5 years or so get a younger dog. If you get another puppy now at some point you'll end up with two old dogs. Thats what I did prior to the 2 I have now, worked out perfectly. (also, LS's) Might try and...
