Im glad you understood where Im coming from, because I am the first person to defend a Vet. I work in the business and have for 30 plus years. I think Vets on the whole are way better than MD's as they have to "listen" to the client tell a story about their pet. i have not seen too many MD's lately ...

Just because someone is a MD or DVM..does not make them infallible. Look around at Doctors who have screwed up doing everything from amputating wrong limbs, wrong meds etc etc. does the term malpractice ring a bell??? the probl. with bad vets..dogs/cats do not have the $$$ value that a human being d...

Sorry ..if it looks like a lab, walks like a lab, its probl. a lab back there. I dont think its pointer and i dont thinks its a color mutation, if it is a color mutation, then its because there was a lab back there somewhere. most poisoness snakes have a wedge shaped head..this snake does not seem to be shaped that way. Also usually a poisoness snake will have pupils like a cat instead of a round pupil and they will have a extra set of holes in the nasal area. you can also have your vet do a simple blood test after 28 days. Its called a Witness Relaxin Test. We do them in our office. As far as accuracy..at this point we have done prob. 50 or more and evey one so far has been right. Its not expensive. but either is just waiting :D

I agree with you guys..I dont love Mitaban either, but at least its every 2 weeks. The active ingredient in Mitaban (amitraz) is the same drug that is in the Preventick collar. Frontline will work on ticks quite well, but it sounds like you are in a hotbed. Use a Preventic collar with the frontline. It will only kill ticks. It is safe to use with Frontline. Also..and here is the biggie..you wrote that you bathe the dog and then immediatly apply the Frontline. That is wrong...

Albon is used to treat Coccidia. Metronidazole(Flagyl) is used for Giardia. You can also use a 3 day course of Panacur. Giardia is very hard to pick up on a stool sample, that is why alot of vet. hosp. will send them to the lab.
