those are some sorry birds someone raised or they had them in the crates for 3 days with no food or water....that's when you can get that kinda performance out of a pen raised bird. My dog catches as many birds as i shoot. A dog farther along in it's training would not catch any birds. There is a huge difference between pen birds and wild birds. The preserve hunts are truely a bressing. I guide and train my dogs at my buddies preserve and it is in NO WAY wild bird hunting. But...

Here is a very cheap but effective kennel floor. Wooden crates/skids and treated deck wood or just peice it together with scrap wood.

I know Bryan pretty well and I can asure you that he will put the time in to get the best out of your dog. If I didn't train my own dogs I would have no problem sending them to him. He's an honest hard working guy.

I have done it when training a pup if I wanted to insure the pup stayed steady or if the bird was sight pointing and moving but the goal still is to have a dog hold it's point with minimum contact from the handler and that is what we work towards. But this is the training section of the forum :wink...

Tomato juice doesn't work. If must depend on what kind you use. I had a dog get prayed as bad as a dog could possibly get it (the dogs head was inches from the skunks hind end) and was amazed at how well the tomato juice worked. It was made by cambels and came like a 6 pack of beer. I did'nt really...

I don't trial simply because the venue I would like to participate in takes place too far away from me for it to be feasible to drive. Could someone please remind me why American Field does not reconize NSTRA Champions. I knew this at one time but for the life of me I can't remember. I know it's not because of the birds getting shot in NSTRA trials but more about a falling out of some sort.
