What are you guys doing for tick prevention? Topical, collar, whatever. Just needs to prevent them from transmitting disease.

After several decades without a problem, both of my dogs have had erlichia or similar. One just back to being himself, the other just come down with it.

I grew up hunting quail with pointers and setters in TN. That's just what I like, so I have pointing dogs.

I could see how a good flusher would work great on pheasants a lot of the time.

The only time I break the rule is when it is storming and the Vizsla freaks out. I then get more sleep with him in the bed than do I with him crying to get in our bed room.

A polished bushing *does* throw more consistent. Way back when, I did a statistical analysis on it. What can I say, I was a math major in college at the time. Another thing to look at. I start with the closest under throwing bushing and open it up. When you get it close, polish it very smooth. I use Iosso bore cleaner because I have it. Toothpaste would probably work about as well.

I use 2-3/4", 1-3/8 oz of copper plated 5's with buffer. I push them hard. It's a good compromise load. I use it anywhere that non-toxic isn't required.

I keep looking for a good non-toxic shot to load that won't break the bank. If anyone has had a good experience, please let me know.

You're going to have to stop throwing up pictures to support your points if you don't have the context for the picture. The dog's performance could have been terrible and still picked up those birds. For that matter, the birds could have been pointed by another dog altogether.
