Re: 28 ga over a 20 ga
20 ga. readily available and pretty versatile. I would invest in some 2 1/2" light RST shot shell loads for getting a young dog started. You can likely find something equivilent to a 28 ga. shell if that's what you are looking for. No need to add the weight of tube inserts to a 20 ga gun. Although a...

Re: Question on dog safety
Mink are a pint size creature with a big attitude when cornered. They are smart. Why not contact your local nusiance trapper? It's what they do. If the dog is not naturally programmed to take care of it quick and efficently it could get chewed a little.

Re: Tips for picking the right pup
Find a breeder that produces proven dogs with hunting ability. Call references and ask questions. Meet the parents in person, if possible see them work. I also wouldn't choose the most independent or the most shy puppy. Be very honest with the breeder about what you are looking for, how much experie...

As you know, if she is not comfortable with the dog the handling may not be much fun for her. Girlie girl or not with the right introductions (like a pup) you will likely have a harmonious outcome. Exposure is key. I would find some people and events now where she could go and meet people before she...
