Not too late, just bears remembering as you go forward is unlike a puppy a 3 year old has life experiences, habits, some bad some good maybe, that may make the training go along at a different pace with some hurdles to get over.... Or it may go quicker if its a smart, cooperative dog. Its just not t...

Space really depends on how many birds and how long you will hold them. Chukar are much more hardy, I used to raise Wisconsin jumbo quail as they were almost as hardy as chukar. I tended to pack my birds because as soon as they were becoming mature they were leaving my flight pen. Do some searching ...

Likely some pressure is attached to the whoa command and that is why pup is reacting. You may perceive less prey drive because the dog isn't as "nuts" as your shorthair, but what you are witnessing is concentration in breeding on what's important to people breeding specialist birddogs aka pointers.....

Re: Dog pooping in the house?
If she's going in the house when your not home or not watching you have to crate her when your not home or she is unsupervised....simple as that. Go back to crate training, crate, straight outside, when she does her business outside she gets some free time in the house, then back in the crate until ...

I teach "paws up" they put their front paws up and I lift them....
I don't really like my dogs jumping up on the tailgate I'd rather avoid any accidents and lift them to load.....once i lift them I say kennel and they go right in, just by repetition and praise.

This dog has never done flying leaps into water....I dare say he has retrieved more birds in harsh conditions than anything you own.

It does if the dog is already bored with retrieving when you try and throw to water.......or if the dog is already becoming sour to bumpers and how the retrieving "game" is being played.

Re: Fleas
When fleas get bad and I may have some in the house after a bad flea season I use the Adams products in addition to the spot treatment on the dogs.
I use the generic fipronil (pet Armor) from Tractor supply....
Adams flea and tick mist and,
Adams flea and tick carpet spray.

Can't say for sure but you may be overdoing it. He's 16 weeks and his attention span is very short, don't overdo it. Keep things short and fun.

If you try and console or coddle the dog to make him feel better you actually reinforce the fear, ignore him. That said my 8 year old with 1000's of birds shot over him hates fireworks and thunder. He will also shiver and act scared if he's made to sit, in or out of his box and listen to constant sh...
