Roll up a bath towel, secure with rubber bands on each end, when dog growls or even cuts his eyes wrong command NO and "bonk" the dog with the rolled up towel . by bonk I mean sling it at his head. It won't hurt him but it'll get his mind right and end the foolishness.

Don't shoot flushed birds or your training her to put them up

If you want the dog to really learn to handle and pin phez why reward flushing birds.

Likely some pressure is attached to the whoa command and that is why pup is reacting. You may perceive less prey drive because the dog isn't as "nuts" as your shorthair, but what you are witnessing is concentration in breeding on what's important to people breeding specialist birddogs aka pointers.....

If she's going in the house when your not home or not watching you have to crate her when your not home or she is unsupervised....simple as that. I teach "paws up" they put their front paws up and I lift them....

I don't really like my dogs jumping up on the tailgate I'd rather avoid any accidents and lift them to load.....once i lift them I say kennel and they go right in, just by repetition and praise.

It does if the dog is already bored with retrieving when you try and throw to water.......or if the dog is already becoming sour to bumpers and how the retrieving "game" is being played.

Id be keeping it light, introducing a clip winged bird to excite pup and build its prey drive...

When fleas get bad and I may have some in the house after a bad flea season I use the Adams products in addition to the spot treatment on the dogs.

I use the generic fipronil (pet Armor) from Tractor supply....
Adams flea and tick mist and,
Adams flea and tick carpet spray.
