I second the comments from TY. Ben does a great job of taking you through the basics. I use the SCS system but I believe that you need to go to a Seminar on the SCS to really understand it. Ben gives you an EZ to understand process and he left in the normal SNAFU's that other viedo's edit out.

Way too early to start judging that pup. If the breeding was good, the hunt will come. Not all pointing dogs enjoy retrieving but they will point and hunt dead. The first year should be happy times.

I built one very similar to southwind except it is 18" off the ground and is on casters. I also built the whelping box separately with casters. This allows me to keep it in the garage during cold weather with a plastic tarp under it. Very easy to clean with a hose and spray tank of soap and bleach. ...

Most of the time when a dog is gun shy, it is man made not genetic. I would look into the "hates the gun" story a little further. You would be amazed what people do to their pups to "see if they are gun shy or not". :evil:

I have used the Tomato Juice Idea :x I have used the White vinegar idea :x

And I have used the hydro peroxide more that several times and so far its the only one that works. You may need to make several applications over a day or two but...it will neutralize the odor as good as anything. :D

I always was told the measure of a man can be judged by his children. Rick is a great representative of Delmar and I am sure Tommy is the same way. I have a friend that trains with Tom every week and he speaks highly of him.

Since you owned, trained and hunted with Labs you may want to press Ray for the differences in approach with retreivers/ flushers and pointing dogs. It is my understanding that Lab guys put a lot of compliance demands on their dogs and hunt the them close.
