This seems like a dumb question but here go's. Once an egg is fertilized by one sire, can another sire come along and fertilize the same egg?

Re: First intro of live birds and gun
There are several methods that recommend the pup be in full chase of a pigeon that has had flight feathers removed. A blank pistol should be fired, at a distance ( 20 yards or so) while the pup is chasing the bird. If the pup stops and looks in the direction of the gunfire, stop what you are doing a...

A question for you. How long were your birds gone for before they came back. I let mine out last night at 8pm and this morning when I got home from work they were still not back yet. They all were sitting in a tree in the front yard. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ...

Re: Field Trial Pup - Range?
I think you have received a lot of good advise from hunting the dog alone to stretching the planted bird out further. One thing you have to realize is that breeding comes into play. All Age dogs don't come in every litter even if the litter was from 2 All Age Champs. The good news is there are other...

I have heard that hawks are late morning / early afternoon hunters. Maybe Falcons are the same way. I always wait until there is only about 2 hours before sunset before I release mine and so far, so good. I have hawks and even bald eagles that are within a few miles of my home.

Eddie, Welcome! I suggest you look at Ben Garcia's DVD. It is consise, to the point and easy to understand. I use the Rick Smith system but unfortunately I don't think his DVD's gives you the depth to really understand his system. Your best bet is to attend on of his seminars. If you don't want to t...

Re: Homing Pigeon Question
I opened the trap today an hour before dark and let them come out. Only five came out and sat on top of the loft. They then flew in the tree a little and on the ground. They did not go back in after I fed them or at dark they were still out. But when I came home from work this morning they were all...

Re: Tips on picking a new puppy
There was a very successful and well respected Brittany Field Trialer by the name of Jim Holman. His method was very simple. He decided on the litter he liked, he decided if he wanted a male or female. For example if he wanted a male, he would have the breeder put all of the males in a cardboard box...

If you ask Rick Smith, training a flushing dog is very similar to training a pointing dog. Pointing dogs "come to you, go with you and stand still, Flushing dogs come to you, go with you and SIT STILL. You'll just miss out on the fun of arguing who has the best pointing breed. Take care and welcome.

The pinch collar is just an early version tool for creating a point of contact (stimulation) on the neck. I have never seen it used on the flank fwiw. It is a tool to work on whoa, heel and maybe close in, quartering drills. Never seen it used in conjunction with dragging a check cord. The Delmar Sm...
