Texas season ended on a good note

Went to Texas for the last few days of the season, hunted Friday the 25th and the morning til noon on Saturday the 26th. We took 15 dogs with us and moved and 15 or 16 coveys, and were able to knock down about 50 birds. We dodged several bullets with porcupines. We ran into 7 of them in a day and a ...

One more season behind us. Had a pretty good year under the circumstances. Went to Texas for the last 3 days of the season and had some decent luck. We were moved 9 coveys everyday that we hunted and only had one covey get up wild. We had some really nice dog work. Everything that i herd was that th...

Re: Sad Day...Stupid Missouri

I agree there are alot of different factors that have a had a large impact on poor quail numbers in Missouri. 1) predators - the pelts need to be worth more so people might be more motivated to get out and trap them or even kill them. such as coons coyotes possums........I wish people would start th...

Finally a good hunt in kansas

We went to Kansas over the new year holiday. Started out in Fort Riley and found one very small covey. They had quite a bit of snow and it was hard walking and hard for the dogs to get around in it so the next morning we left and went west. Once we got southwest of salina we ran out of snow. Once we...

kansas?????

Went to kansas over thanksgiving weekend and stayed in Great Bend. Hunted walk-ins all weekend, took 6 good dogs and saw very few pheasants and no quail. Slow dissappointing weekend. Would much rather shoot quail but having trouble locating them. Any suggestions.

if you want a dog for a pet, get the dog. if you a dog what will hunt for upland birds for you and still be a pet, get a pure breed bird dog You sould try to stack the deck of cards in your favor trust me i learned the hard way on a lab years ago. But then you might get lucky and the dog be the best...
