Question on Smoking gamebirds

In the past I have smoked pheasant using primarily applewood. It always comes out great.

I have a Crab Apple tree in my yard that I want to cut down. IS Crab applewood any good to use when Smoking gamebirds?

Wasn't there an article in the Detroit News about area's in the Detroit area that have become so overgrown that guys were finding wild pheasants and training their dogs that way? They said the only real peril is open manhole covers.

Your right about the keeping quiet part.

I got a little stoked up and lost my composure when the dog outed the coon. For the most part I have been lucky with all my dogs when it comes to critters.

GWP - Versatile Dog with the right kind of coat to hunt in Wisconsin.

Most of my hunting is done in October, November, and December, after that a couple of game farm hunts to wrap things up but the weather gets pretty cold and the dog coat is holds up well to all of it.

I have hunted and fished near Germfask back when I was in college.

Back then the grouse hunting was great. I assumed it is still pretty good based on who goes where and stories I have read.

Don't go there anymore since i live in Wisconsin, there is no need to go that far North.

I use to throw those frisbees that had the hole in the middle. Those things flew almost 10 times farther than a regular disc.

Anyway my Golden retriever loved to chase those down. It also helped him in retrieving long marks. It was a let expensive than a dummy launcher as well.

Sounds like the dog needs some obedience training.

She needs to understand that when you give her a command that she must obey it. This is essential not only for the dogs well being and safety but for her to be successfull as your hunting companion.
