Re: Hunt test / field trial judges gifts
I cashed in a couple of Cabela's Gift Cards that I received as judges gifts to help pay for a new scope for my deer rifle. Cash is always welcome, but I rarely use it to buy myself something special.

Re: Comments on dog food
I switched off of Native because I could see what was coming. It was $24 a bag in January, now it is around 27.50, and they are expecting another price increase somewhere at the end of the month or so. The exceed that I have been feeding went from 22.50 a 44lb bag to 26.30 a 44lb bag, and I have to...

With the back seats folded down and the front seat moved forward, I fit a size 300 crate in the back seat of my wife's Focus. I hauled an adult dog to Idaho, and picked up a couple of puppies in Oregon to bring back to the mid-west. This was back when gas was under $2/gallon because it was considera...

I think the pup's name was Rizz I do not remember the open winner Tom Tubergen won with Dew Tha Amateur Gun Dog ended up being a 4-pointer. I think I will take my chances and count on the Four Lakes trial happening. There is a lot less of the funny business like you mentioned.

How much rain did the grounds get last night? Is the horseback trial still on, or should I try to get into the TCGWP trial?

I just ordered a new TriTronics Pro200G2EXP with an extra collar and two accessory beepers. I have been using the TriTronics Upland Special since they were introduced, and I was using the Innotek 1600 T&T before that. If a dog wants to bite you, you are probably going to get bit. If a dog is in the middle of a fight, chances are he wants to bite the other dog and not a person. I have had good luck by grabbing one of the dogs by the back feet and kicking both dogs in the chops until they quit fighting. A lot of pe...

I have seen stakes where 3/4's of the entires were fillers, all owned by the same people. I saw one trial where the same pro handler had 8 of the 14 dogs in the stake, and he dodged a trial in his back yard to drive across 3 states to get there, no suprise he got points. Or you will see someone jud...

Let me re-phrase my original post. What do others out there charge for a stud fee (please include additional costs like care fees as well)? I would find another stud. This dog has not been proven, and the stud's owner is also inexperienced with the process. If it were my stud, I would be eager to get a litter or two out of him to see what he produces instead of chasing stud fees away by charging so much. I have always charged a fraction...

No the standard is to measure the full lenth of the tail, remove 60% leaving 40%. Of course that leaves a lot of room for variation because some puppies are born with a proportionally shorter tail, some with longer. CR Charlie I thought it was the other way around?
