We have been feeding the hunters edge for about 2 years now. Great food. I was told they changed the formula in the time that we have been using it but our dogs still perform well on it.

We recently flew three dogs from Tucson to Alb. New Mexico. One of them laid in the seat next to us and the other two were in crates. They didnt seem to mind at all. If you are worried give them some benedryl it will make them sleepy. That was some advise I was given.

Have you tried changing the type of shell? I have the sbeII. I have not had this problem with it but I have had the problem with other shotguns. Some of the cheaper shells don't cycle that well. Just a thought.

We only hunt two at a time too. I guess it might vary depending on cover. But when hunting mearns I find myself looking for dogs more than enjoying it when we have 3 down. I only run two at a time.
