Re: First shotgun - used how - still have it?
My dad gave me a Winchester Model 12 in 16 gauge when I was 9. Growing up in the high desert of SoCal, it was used on dove, chukar, valley quail, gambel quail and mountian quail. It''s a sweet shotgun with many great memories, and yes, I still have it.

Re: A Fun Way to Spend a Saturday
Nice pics of some good dog work. Interesting note on your female Britt being a natural backer. My 6 year old female Britt, DeeDee has always been a natural backer. It surprised the heck out of me the first time I put out behind one of my veteran dogs when she was still a puppy and she backed the fir...

Re: Puppy Names
You want to pick a name that's short and easy to pronounce. One or two syllables, distinct, so that the dog knows it's his name and can be used to call him at a distance in the field.
Here are my male dogs names:
Rusty
Trip
Scout

Re: seperate fighting dogs
Two of my males who are littermates went through a dominance contest when they were 2 years old. It culminated in an all-out fight with each gripping a mouthful of the other. I applied severe ear pinches to each one, then lifted and separated them and shouting NO! There was no repeat performance.

Re: feeding dogs while on the road
I just returned from Kansas. It's a 2 day trip each way for me. On the road I feed a reduced ration, about 75% of the regular ration, at the end of each traveling day. They get aired out and watered at each fuel stop. This has been working just fine for me.

Re: Southern California (Riverside) area
While Riverside itself may not be paradise, there is some fine wild chukar hunting less than a 2 hour drive away in the high desert. There is decent valley quail in the foothills and canyons to the north and east. Some specatacular dove shooting is to be found in the Coachella and Imperial valleys t...

This is an old hoax email that's been going around for a while. If you actually take the time to go to the http://www.senate.gov link, you won't be able to find any such bill because it doesn't exist. Senate bills are labeled S.###, not SB-####. We need to be vigilant, but let's pass around bogus in...

Ditto what Kmack and vern3 say about the check cord from Ronnie Smith (Huntsmith). They actually get better and stiffer with usage and provide the excellent response for quartering and whoa post training. Best check cords I've ever owned, won't use anything else. http://www.huntsmith.com/store.php#e...
