September in ND

Just got back from North Dakota about 8 pm last night. Had a great week, saw a ton of birds, shot my first triple ever on any kind of birds, got some very good dog work. Brought back 12 sharptails and 6 huns for consumption at home. This is from the evening I shot the triple. 6 total sharptails and ...

Re: Prairie bird hunting tips

I have a question for you all. In trips to Nd the past three years, I have refrained from hunting alfalfa fields or started winter wheat fields because I considered them unharvested crops and wanted to be on the safe side with the land owners. We did this even though we knew the grouse were in there...

The she I referred to is the breeder of your Belle, Mrs. Sweeney. Your gender is not important to me nor did I try to infer it was one or the other. Here is where I have a beef with those who want to pretend they have DK's by using the Google translation. I am well aware of what Deutsch Kurzhaar tra...

Re: Creating New Possibly Contraversal GSP Webpage Need INPUT

So I visited your site thinking that in order to really be able to give an opinion on DK's that you should own one and go through the testing before comparing the two. Then I clicked on Belle's pedigree and thought well maybe she does own a DK, as both parents were from DK litters. I have to admit t...

Re: Tail Docking

The vet should do it where you tell them to. Most vets have no idea what the standard is on tail docking for pointing breeds, they just take a guess and chop. If you leave it to them to decide, you'll end up with a short little stub of a tail.

I own a solid black male. Hunt him and test him quite extensively. I am going to take a little different stance on this issue. Most people tend to dismiss any dicussion about solid black GSP's as selection by color, and I view that as de-selecting by color. There are very good dogs that happen to be...
