Wow - what a great oppty. Good to see Progundog on here. I rented a cabin from their farm and hunted all around it last year. Toured his facilities and saw some highly impressive dogs. Good luck - I've already bought two pups this year and my wife said I can't have another mid-life crisis. See ya ne...

So I'm trying to debate on when to go. It starts on the 2nd and run to the 5th. I suppose that i could see a lot of dogs if I went on the 2nd with the opening runs or wait til the 5th where it will be narrowed down to the final braces...I'd really like to see Rusty (Nolan's Britt) run.

I do it a little different than some. My idea would be to put day old chicks in there with heat, water, food. same thing as surrogator (i know it's debatable on it's results) locked down from anything outside. i would definitely need to consider the humidity. maybe chainlink type material in windows to keep out avian predators yet allow...

You will have to be awful careful with the humity in something like that and you will without a doubt rust the floor out fairly quickly. Just wouldn't be the ideal type of housing for babies. Alternative to the surrogator -- raising quail
I know the surrogator in theory is best at imprinting the quail at an early age into it's surroundings. However, I'm willing to drop $200 on this experiment and see what kind of results I can get....being on wheels I can back into some thick cover surrounded by good habitat. If I can keep the ground...

THanks for the replies. My question around "good" is exactly that -- opinions for the forum on how far back a generation is quoted before it's a mute point...ie -- my pup has "X" bloodline in it....5 gens back vs say 3 gens back. When do you draw a line and say "too far?"
