Re: Good few days

Thanks ditchparrot. I hope you're right and she has connected the dots between barbed wire and pain. The back cut was so big I could actually smell dog meat on the drive to the vet. I kept trying to figure out what the smell was and then I realized it was her wound. Very nice. Also, in case anyone e...

Good few days

Took a few days to head out and hunt this week. This was our first real hunt together and I'm super happy with my partner in crime. She has crazy energy and drive. She was eating up the ground, taking direction on where to hunt, changing direction with me, and most importantly, she was birdy as I've...

One evening at my aunts house with 2 indoor/outdoor cats and our other dog was covered in fleas. It was disgusting. I have had her on lots of pigeon and she's plenty happy to point, creep, point, creep, etc (picture a lion or something stalking) until they flush and then she runs after them for 10-20 yards. First time training a hunting dog makes me a bit anxious since I don't have any benchmarks to go by. I'll keep the pressure and expectations in my hip pocket as suggested and take my cues from her on when its time to move forward.

Don't worry about it. 3.5 months old - a baby. Let her just enjoy being out with you. Smart move to kennel her during the hunt. A lot of vehicles starting in '95 (I think) have OBDII computers. I think you can pick up a OBDII plug-and-play monitor so you can see real time information on your whole truck. It's there if you want to use it but my problem is you have to cut the puppies way back on food or they get too heavy and I don't like to see a puppy hungry. I agree with everyone. Our house is puppy proofed, but she's gifted. We don't have kids, so maybe we haven't proofed it to a high enough degree. Good question and one that is applicable to me also.
