The worst may be over. She settled down much more quickly last night. I rolled up an old piece of carpet and shoved it in the crate to take up a lot of space and I think it did the trick.

As I see it, you have 2 choices... 1) put the crate in the kitchen or far end of the house and sleep with a pillow over your head until she gets used to the crate. 2) give up, bring the puppy into the bed with you and you can all get some sleep. If yeast related also check between the pads of the paw. Our dog transferred a yeast infection in the ear to her paw and then back to her ear before we figured out it was living in her paw as well. It looked like a reddish/pink area.

I'd hunt around for something used as suggested. I built a 30"x15"x9" bird cage for transport out of 16ga 1/4" wire mesh and 1" pine. By the time I was done with everything I should have just bought a plastic crate.
