The only reservations I would have is hunting a young pointing dog with a flushing breed.
As far as chukar hunting, a fairly big runner teamed with a close worker is a deadly combo.
I assume it would be the same for other birds too.
Hunting two big runners at the same time can be a pain.

Here in Reno, NV the quail are paired up but no chicks yet. The chukar hatch is usually 3-4 weeks after the quail hatch. The hatch may be poor this year but it has to be better than last year. At least the cover is a little better.

Britt, Setter, GSP. Of those 3 a britt might be the easiest in the house due to its smaller size. But as mentioned above, pretty much any of the pointing breeds would work. IMO, the lines/breeding is more important than the breed. My EPs are smaller than most Britts... Ya but they are still EP's. :...

I don't think there really is a bad choice. If you're willing to put the necessary time in and you get a dog from a good breeding, you'll probably end up with a nice dog. I think the line and/or breeding is more important than which breed you decide upon.

I would ask the Breeder to help you pick after all they have raised the pups and should have a some idea of which pups are more respective of their place in the pack versus the one always trying to be top dog. I don't trial so I would always opt for the dog that will hunt all day. If they're in shape they can do it, but not in the early season when it's still hot.
