My GSP loves to play with tennis balls and will retrieve them all day long. Here recently he has started to roll them around and chew on them a little when retrieving them. he has had a few birds in his mouth and been ok with them just wasnt shure if I should do away with the tennis balls as toys.

questions bout quail.....
I know that we are getting into the nesting season so I have been running my dogs (for exercise) in places where I have never seen birds and in grasslands where I dont really expect to see birds nested, well I got into a covey of birds today in a place ive never seen them. Indiana has no law about r...

my lab is a fairly thin coated thin boned dog and when it gets cold especially if we have had to wade to the blind she will shake a little, but if you bury your fingers in her coat or put them under her vest her skin is warm. Ive never had a problem with her going into the water after a bird. i just...

Ok.... so I am planning to do a little habitat work over the next several months which has the potential to turn into 100+ acres in the next year. my main reason is to have birds to train on and to eventually be able to potentially take some birds off of. am I right to assume that a Johnny house is ...

My dogs learn real fast if they encounter a snake, if they'll just follow the cloud of dust with the girl screaming on the other end they'll eventually catch up with me.

I saw a Boykin a couple weeks ago at a trial that had been trimmed up bout as short as my GSP and seemed to be handling the heat fine. I agree that to save you and your dog some funny looks you may wana have it done by some one with a little experience.

I voted winchester cause I put about 1.5-2 cases of duck and goose loads through my SX3 a year waterfowl hunting, and probly another 2 cases of dove loads, but my go to for "birds" is a baikal O/U 20ga.

Re: Horse wrecks really suck
I grew up around horses and it seemed like I spent as much time looking up at them from my back as i did down at them from the saddle. broke ribs and a cracked tail bone convinced me to buy comfortable boots and slower dogs when i started hunting on my own. heres to a speedy recovery.

Re: honeysuckle as cover?
I understand that alot of people are getting rid of their honeysuckle and from a hunting stand point i agree, i've had my pup point in it alot with no real results. however, i am looking at this from a habitat/conservation point of view. from the looks of things there is bare ground beneath the vine...

honeysuckle as cover?
So I have heard from some people that honeysuckle makes good cover for quail and I've heard that it doesn't. I had intentions of planting sourgum in strips to connect some honeysuckle patches as part of a habitat project I'm starting. Any info would be awsome. Seems to me like I've seen and heard bi...

the judge is a personal defense gimmick in my opinion. I sell guns for a living at a large sporting goods retailer and it amazes me the people who are buying them. Ur looking at a fully rifled 2-3 inch bbl (they make a 6in bbl version but ive not seen one) for a self defence situation or a back pack...

Re: Looking for advice
an electric collar is not the answer to your current problem. the e collar is used to enforce known commands as an extension of you. if the dog had no idea what was expected of it why complicate things by burning him for no real reason? you have gotten good advice in the above couple of posts.

J&R, In Rorys defense, he is still very young we will see what happens as he starts to mature, already he shows great promise in the Grouse woods, he may turn into a very good Grouse dog as he matures. I only gave you the negative side, so you would understand, its no bed of roses with him so far. ...

I would imagine that if rabbits are over populated as you say that you should be able to find some public or private ground where there are a bunch of bunnies and just let the pup run. the pup will eventually start to bump the bunnies and chse them. for a while id just let the pup chase. you can wor...

I also have a 30x30in rabbit hutch in my garage where I keep half a dozen quail at a time. usually use one at a time and card them when I use em and then can get them back. The ones that dont make it through training get breasted and end up in the freezer

Tikka is made by the same people that build the Sako line of rifles and comes with the same factory accuracy guarantee. as far as your choices in scopes, I would probly go with the nikon and save a few bucks.
