Re: 8 1/2 week pup and wing question
You really don't need a wing to do the drill. If I don't have one handy, I use a ragbone. It is primarily for sight pointing purposes only. Also, I've had pups who would turn to stone on this drill/exercise, and ones who got rabbit in their blood and chased it. However, try not to let them catch it ...

Re: Aggressive neighbors dog, what should we do?
Wow.. This brings back bad memories. I live in a rural community, and a few years ago we had a hellava problem with a POS neighbor. This guy was worthless. He had a bunch of motley, mutt dogs that he fed when his disability check came in once a month, but that's about it. They ran loose and were run...

Re: My dog eats better than I do!!! What do you feed your dog??
Nope, not yet anyways. As far as side by side, no. I have never fed the diamond. I know people who have and they like it. It is cheaper than the PMI lines of dog food. Even if you break down the extra bag credit with PMI, they come out to about the same price per pound. I like it because I get the e...

Re: My dog eats better than I do!!! What do you feed your dog??
I agree with the 'Way Overpriced' connotation. Before I was a breeder/kennel owner I fed 2 dogs Eukanuba. I really liked it and so did they, but its rather expensive and eventually I came to my sences and started feeding PMI. Now, we have SEVERAL dogs and we feed our Puppies until a year old PMI EXC...

Re: Do we train our pup's to early??
I agree, birds, birds and more birds. We introduce pups to a wing on a fishing rod at 5 weeks of age, at 7 weeks we put quail in a trap and see what they do. Usually, they Point, hopscotch around and go bonkers. I feel that if a pup shows interest in learning, go for it. I always teach 'Here' formal...

Live Bird Saturdays!
We train with live birds every Saturday until opening day with the pups. Its always interesting to see what happens when you dump 6 month old pups out with live birds. Sunday after church is 'big dog' bird time, but is more routine than fun. Gotta love them pups! http://i526.photobucket.com/albums/c...
