Re: Shooting around the horse ?
I surely would like to see horses that "enjoys" fireworks and cannon fire ! But that's a little extreem for my needs. And I did intend to introduce the gun gradually. With our dogs, we often introduce gun fire using birds and prey drive as the diversion . Horses don't have prey drive, but do ...

Gradually! With very light noise at first (.22 rimfire from a distance) on up to larger noisier gunfire. My horses attend all my huge fourth of july parties where we fire a cannon, .50 BMG, fireworks and dynamite. They have actually learned to enjoy it. They get excited and charge away only to retur...

Re: Picking out an over/under shotgun
I reloaded shotgun shells more when I was a kid. I used to use a piece of sheet metal for patterning my shotguns. After each shot I would swipe the face with old latex paint (you have some in your garage) and on warm days the paint would dry enough in a minute or less to pattern again. If you could ...

Contact the BLM wild horse and burro division for an adoption site near you. You should get the site. I believe they are still $75 and they are easy to domesticate. I agree they are music in the morning when they bray you awake. PS here's the link: http://www.blm.gov/wo/st/en/prog/wild_horse_and_bur...

However, spitting a bit out could be an adjustment problem as mentioned above or a head set problem (how the horse holds its head in relation...

Re: Feeding field trial horses
Straight grass hay and pasture is ideal. Wild pasture is actually best but not many folks have that. Grain is a supplement for anticipated hard work (not hobby horse riding) or as mentioned above as a pity snack. A horse is designed to have a belly full of roughage for good health. Concentrated feed...

Really depends on what discipline of riding you are looking at. In the halter and QH rings, the "in" thing is the big, tank bodies with the TINNNNY little feet and head. To get the tiny feet, you need to breed for smaller bone. However, if you look at the english disciplines, like dressage and hunt...

Eddie, It is extremely important to follow the advice given regarding fitting the saddle to your horse. Your butt is secondary. Kiki's mom, are you putting a cornmeal coating on the entire bird (like a thanksgiving turkey) or on the jointed bird (KFC style)? Pumpkins and paper targets aren't fighting back and trying to kill you. They don't have a will to survive and fight. Do what you want.
