Same hypothetical question, and a couple more.
My dog roams the house, but the pup would be in a crate until housebroken. Would you keep them in a crate together? I would feed the older dog first, would you let the pup watch to establish some sort of "pac-rules"?

Penny was the same way, at first in the kennel then later when confined to the kitchen. It was hard to ignore her at night, because my husband needed to go to work early in the morning (I took time off from work). I would leave the room, and stand outside the door until she was quiet, then come back...

Buying dogs on-line

I know there was a post earlier this month about finding breeders/dogs online, but i can't find the thread. I know the person running the website posted too, just can't remeber the name.
I'm very leary (sp) about "buying dogs on-line", unless I can find reputable breeder from a trustworthy website.

I have found that bird-dogs as a whole make great pets, as long as they get enough exercise (physical and mental exercise). It sound like you're already on the right track there.

mngsp, I looked at Willow Creek Kennels last year, and they were really good about answering my questions. I just ended up not kenneling my dog.. With Penny we used a comination of lip on the canines, and finger down her throat. Our firends also used to "yelp" when their Beagle bit them, and then scold. Worked for them.

I used to carry my kennel from the house to my Explorer, which is kinda time-consuming (I'm a little person). Now I have a brand new Subaru Forrester (yippee for me!) with a rubber floor cover, and my husband's letting me get the gate/barrier to put up behind the back-seat.
