C'mon... I don't know why but I actually read that link on "myths." Unsubstantiated. Nature is an increasingly cruel and brutal place the further down the food chain we travel. Wolves do not choose to wait weeks to eat, they are opportunists as well as hunters and would eat daily if they could. When...

Ray nailed it... ...professionals do not need to do anything to do anything nefarious to beat most of us amateur handlers. It is the judge's job to set the pace, and the handler's job to show the judge the dog. A handler 1/2 a mile (or considerably less) ahead of the judge's aren't showing the judges much and will probably get reeled in from said judge. The handler and the judge should ride at a comfortable pace and the...

can you imagine the chaos and extended time a trial would take if handlers had to go look for dogs on point? As described earlier, it is simply the scouts job to cover ground that it would not be practical to have handlers judges and galleries going in multiple directions.

I am not sure this is a popcorn event? Does American Field list conformation anywhere? The preponderance of pointer folk I know could not give a rat's fat elbow what the AKC has to say. What little fussing there is at those trials is reserved for arguing over field related performance and rules.

Polmaise I believe he is saying he couldn't imagine catching the dog if that was his option. In days of old they had to saddle up and ride hard to catch a dog like Elks and they had a tendency to make the correction worth their effort. Softer dogs had little chance their odds are much better today
