Re: Ugh!!!! Snow's Falling .... (Pics)

Believe me I am not trying to rub it in. I am tired of being hot. We have a NSTRA trial Saturday and the forecast is for temps in the mid 80's. It's really tough on the dogs.

Re: Ugh!!!! Snow's Falling .... (Pics)

Snow is a rare thing here. When we do get a dusting (may be once in five years) we close schools and everyone goes nuts. Our road departments do not have equipment to deal with snow and ice so we just stay home and play. It is usually melted and gone by 10:00am the same day. It's common here to use ...

We have a real problem with that in this part of the country. About all you can do is flush their eyes. I buy the cheap saline at the dollar store.

dlfl,

I suppose any hair removal on a very heavily coated dog would help. I find it easier to just peel them with a # 10 blade.

Dlfl, I am from the other school of thought on the hair thing. Look at the Llewellins that are more recent imports from colder climates. They all have that thick long coat. Then look at the Llewellins that have been in the southern US for several generations. Their hair gradually gets shorter and th...

I have not tried their tuflex collars but have their roading harness mad from the same material. They are very durable and less likely to seperate at the ends than the day-glo harness. I like them enough that I plan to try some of their collars next time I need them. http://i155.photobucket.com/albu...

Brett,

We are getting close to finishing the Katrina damage in Alabama so things look better for me this year. I have my fingers crossed that these new storms miss us.

Dogs are fine.

I heard you won the MS Region, congratulations.

Hope to see you end of September at Lawrenceburg.

My point is one can if they wish to avoid all the “training” to modify a puppy that may have a weak temperament. That is an option. And IMHO a very reasonable one if one wants to think objectively without be lead down a path by emotional attachment. We are not talking about a human child, but a can...

Flush, I agree with most of your post. Pointers do mature faster than other breeds. I think that is one of the reasons many pros use them. By the time a pointer is 12 months you have a pretty good idea if you have a field trial prospect. Bottom line, it translates to money for them and that's how th...
