Re: 2 dog E-collar systems
To prevent jumping up at the door, you can practice greeting guests with the pups on a leash. Start with one pup at a time and the other pup in its crate. Work in the house, near the entrance door. Teach sit, then sit/stay, then stretch out the duration of the stay (all while on the leash). Start wi...

Re: relationship between dog gas and their food?
We had a Golden Retriever who had terrible gas, no matter what diet she was on. We tried many brands; even the sensitive stomach formulas didn't help. I had always suspected it was a carbohydrate digestion issue, so we started giving her one Beano at each meal and the problem was OVER. Worked for us...

When we see patches like that on the faces of calves or foals, we think ringworm. I would be heading for the vet for a real diagnosis. Hope it turns out to be something easy and quick to fix. By the way, real cute pup and I love the upside-down shot.

I'm with Sharon. The Bark Limiter (Tritronics) works really well. We started using them on the dogs left behind in the truck or on the chaingang. Never used to have a barker, but when one started she taught everyone to bark and/or howl. With the Bark Limiter, the correction is instantaneous and happ...

You would have a NAVHDA chapter near you, and there are lots of folks who could connect you with a trainer or help you train your own dog. Wisconsin has lots of different types of dog clubs and events where you could meet someone to hook you up with a trainer. Good luck with your search, and have fu...

Re: How much more?
This is a good question, and it made me think of how much I increase feed during hunting season or heavy training. Our smaller Britt is 32 or 33 lb in trim condition. In the off season, she gets about 1 3/4 cups feed split into two meals. When she is in work, that would be increased 25 to 30 percent...

Sounds like you have a nice pup and that you are on the right track with his training. Distractions usually trump obedience at the age of 6 months with any pup I have ever had, especially if there are birds around. In the fall when the raptors are moving south, my birds don't fly far if I just loft fly them. Sometimes they will spend three or four days in a row just going out, then trapping back in within 15 minutes or so. I think they are very aware that the predators are not the same ones as the 'home grown'...
