I have had it both ways. One of my current a coverdog bred Pointer is the best behaved dog in our household and you would think her azz is on fire when she is working. I have also had the reverse the last couple of DD's I have had were complete slugs while working and complete PIA's in the house. My...

For you guys that train with a woah post do you use an e-collar while on the post? Wing birds buy the dog on the post? Thanks for the explanation. Do you fear that the dog when pressured will come to heel when say commanded to WOAH? Or maybe while handling on a blind the dog allows the pressure to get the best of him and returns to your side?

To " never set a dog up to fail" is greatly misunderstood. Every time you proof a dog, like steady to flush, you are setting him up for potential failure. I think that "setting a dog up for failure" means you test him on a situation that he has not been thoroughly trained on. That I never do. As fa...

One that the dog obeys I use the Acme dual tone, 1 quick blast = WOAH, 2 quick blast = change direction, 2 blasts on the pea less end of the whistle = COME. I have never believed in a long drawn out whistle command it is like pleading IMO.
