Pointing is instinct that birds Can help bring out, holding point, at least thru the flush takes some amount if training especially with pen raised birds. Pen raised birds can teach a dog to crowd and catch. One must also remember that the bump/flush and chase can also be self rewarding and if allow...

Crap/crock huh....I don't ff my pointing dogs until after their second season.....I don't always agree with others training methods but don't feel the need to call their methods " crap or a crock" Force broke at 18 months after second season. Gqf manufacturing, I've had very good success with using 2 Styrofoam incubators. I also have 2 sportsman incubators but if your not doing couple hundred at a time, at least, they aren't worth firing up. Be slightly religious in watching over them and not opening them and the Styrofoam incubators wor...

If cutting back doesn't firm him up I always keep Tylan powder on hand. I'm not sure if there is a dog flu going around but I've had some loose stool issues in all 4 of my dogs this spring. We are always out running or hunting...three or 4 days of some dilute Tylan (antibacterial/antibiotic) cleared...

You must have an unquenchable love for the outdoors, not a passing wish to take a walk once in awhile....go to a truly wild place 100 miles from nowhere and take a dozen mile walk.....its an experience in solitude some folks can't stomach. If you love that then add a beautifully gaited independent d...

I'm sure she was....don't know why your being hostile, maybe you misunderstand the point I was making........dogs can carry low grade infection for years...this is the worst scenario as long term joint damage / arthritis is the result. Re: lyme disease
Id be surprised if you actually saw the tick that caused the lyme or the other tick born disease. Some ticks are almost too small to see so seeing every tick that bites a dog is improbable, not impossible but improbable. They say it takes 24 hours for a tick to infect but I don't know if I believe t...

Some are scored most are judged.....nstra scores on a scale up to 50 and 100 for find/point, retrieve, ground application and obedience. BDC AND UFTA score on birds found, shells not used and time not used .... AF, AFTCA, NBHA, USCSDA, are purely judged. Might take some time and look up those organi...

Re: Difference in training a retriever and pointing breed
If you LIKE to train a lab may be a better fit. With a purely specialist bird dog you have to leave alot of what you train for in a lab go by the way side, People who come from labs, to say a pointer or setter. tend to try and over train a pointing dog (over training or being heavy handed with a set...

I don't have a personal problem dosing at 5+ times the level of a heart guard but .10 or 1/10th of a cc per 10lbs is more than 15 times the dose.... Even tho a lot if people use that amount safely it seems....I see no need, again personally, to dose 15x more than is needed. 1/10th cc per 20lbs is 7....
