Re: EP vs. GSP why the difference in $?
I see the websites, with these folks who have 75 half trained dogs for sale, 3 litters at one time, several more expected soon, This describes many kennels...and even some with proven dogs. I have to believe there is a lot of discarding being done....like the Beagle guys...many have a pistol handy ...

Re: New GSP pup not eating much
What food was the breeder feeding him? What he asked. Any switch from what the Breeder was using without a gradual transition will not sit well with the pups stomach. Also, at 8 weeks, I'd be sticking to a puppy formula. As another consideration also, you've just picked this pup up and all that the...

Re: Puppy Stakes part II
No Dennis, that's not what I'm saying. Most GSPs the age of the ones in your vids would shut down and start to go south with a lot of pressure. Yours are the exception, not the norm. I've always just erred on the side of caution. What's the big hurry to get them steady/broke? If you're gonna break ...

AH you don't train range in a dog. God either gives them a big motor or he doesn't. Bigsugar, I would whole heartedly agree, they either have a motor or they don't, but it's up to us to train them when to idle it and when to rev it, is it not? You can teach a big going dog to hunt short by training...

Re: Shorthairs, since we're on the topic of color...
Huge topic that's been literally worn out....but that being said there a few key points to remember: The shorthair or DK was a culmination of many "inputs" from various breeds to create a "purebred" line of new dog breed called the DK (shorthair)-this was in the 1800's for God's sake....later they ...

If there's no such thing as "too much dog" - then why do so many breeders (and certain lines of GSP's) talk about "bidability" as a characteristic of their line? Said, another way, why are some dogs known as "soft"? To think there are not extremes of "soft" vs. "head strong" dogs is not being truth...

Too much dog or not enough dog will always be a discussion. IMO it depends on owner/trainer/handler and what they want to work with.I would rather work with to much dog it may take a bit more time in training, but I think the end results are a harder working dog. There are only 2 traps to be concerned with and both are Kill sets, a Conibear and a Kill Snare. Both are so effective and quick, you'll likely NEVER HAVE A CHANCE of saving your dog, but in many to most States, their use is regulated so as to prevent contact with dogs when legally set for the most...

I would happily destroy any non dog-discriminant traps I found. Trapping now is pointless, no money for furs and far more dogs out there than trappers. I bet more often than not traps catch dogs. They make some cool dog resistant traps for raccoon now. I guess just be glad it wasn't a leg hold... I...

Well I notice that in last years National Championship, that the tracker was pulled out for 5 out of the 39 dogs that ran.
