The Northwest chapter doesn't have a web site that I know of, but Elsa (roostersmom) could probably get you in contact with someone to join up. There is also a Mo-Kan chapter in the area.

I don't know if this is new news, but I'm sure some Brittany/NSTRA people would like to know. Just got my ABC magazine a few days ago and saw the write-up. I'm glad to see him there, he was an outstanding bird dog and has a major impact on the breed for foot hunters, and even a few horseback hunters...

Self grooming Britt, Ha! We are constantly amazed with both the positions she gets into and how utterly comfortable she seems when there. Love it when she is fast asleep on her back and doing a running dream with all four going and faint growls and barks. Just my opinion here and I have no problems...

Its a hunting dog, I think any trim/cut/buzz will do. But thats just me.
My Britt gets a #1 guard from tail tip to the base of the skull every May. She grows it back by hunting season.

Katie ended up 3rd on Saturday's elimination trial. Went 4/4, including one bird she pointed that I ended up finding in a varmit hole 4" underground. Had 2nd place all day until the last brace when another dog went 4/4 and a back. Oh well, I'm still happy with any placement at a regional elimination...

I've gone to preserves within 30 minutes and up to 1 1/2 hours away, mainly just to try new places. The purpose for going has been purely for fun in the off season. As somebody above said, the preserve season opens earlier and closes later than wild bird season. Some of the dog/habitat/hunting clubs...

Picked up 10 quail and went training on Saturday. Just a refresher course for next Saturday's event at Higginsville. Excuse the shaky video, me and the handheld camera just cant stay stable. NSTRA trials look like they would be pretty fun. $50 isn't bad at all....even if you only run once a year. I'll have to check the rules but I wonder if I could run my mutt in a NSTRA trial? Wow. Those are some stunning pieces, I can't imagine what the cost would be. The local tax guy who did my last pheasant mount is now charging $200 for standing and $220 for flying. I paid $120 2 years ago.

EDIT: I found his pricing page, $250 for a standard pheasant mount.

A friend and I went out on the 12th - 14th and based in Concordia. All the land we hunted was WIHA. We hunted around Burr Oak on Saturday, it was around 40 degrees and blowing 10-15mph. McCandless Britts out of KY has a male that is tearing it up. I believe it is NLB bloodlines.
