Beer Muffins

Not really wild a game recipe but goes great with wild game: Beer Muffins 4 cups Bisquick Mix 2 tbsp. sugar 3 tbsp. cornmeal 1 bottle of beer @ room temp...(your choice but a nice amber works really well) Combine all ingredients; Spoon batter evenly into greased muffin pan (pan will be full). Bake a...

Re: Hunting vest

Had the Pela, hunted with it once. Padded straps kept gun from mounting correctly. Bought WW and never looked back.

Re: What do you know about these bloodlines?

I have had GSP's with the Dixielands Rusty and Rawhides Clown. They are both good and bad...what I'm saying is; the good ones are great and the bad ones are not so great. The clown dogs come from the 3XNFC Champion Rawhides clown. Several litters came from the Clown/DR mix. My best GSP is a mix of b...

The best boot I've owned...Irish Setter Upland Hunter. I do have a pair of Irish Setter Tamaracks and they are great as well.

Re: youth gun needed

There is a youth Benelli Montefeltro 20 on gunbroker.com. Not sure how much you want to spend but that is a great gun and you can buy an adult stock from Benelli when she's ready for it.

Re: Need a dog vest for my GSP

I use a skid plate for protection but not from cold; here is a link to the Cabelas Chest Protector. I've ordered one but not used one. 30-40 degrees should not be a problem for an active hunting dog.

The top red button is low, bottom red is medium, and the two together are high. You may have hit the medium and not the low...just a thougtht.

I agree; keep the insulated one. It's what's best for the dogs not you; IMHO.

Re: Shell of choice? Please read first before replying!

Fiocchi Golden Pheasants 6's and when I can find them Winchester AA SuperHandicap 7.5's. The AA's hit like a hammer and cost 1/2 as much. I realize you are looking for something different than Winchester but I figure a trap load is different.

Re: Remington 1100 LT-20 Special Field

I had the 11-87 Upland Special...essentially the same gun except mine had a 23" barrel. I could not shoot it and eventually traded for a Benelli Montefeltro and never looked back.

Re: 28 Gauge O/U

A little out of your price range as well is the Ruger Red Lable 28 O/U. I have one and it's fantastic. It is built on the smaller 28 frame. Search around, it may be worth it to throw in a few more $$.

Re: Loyall dog food?

My dogs seemed to like it as far as going in...but coming out was a little more of a problem. Hard, dry stools were not a good thing from the looks on their faces. I have switched to PMI Exclusive for my older dogs and use Dog Fuel for the athletes of the yard.

Re: ever had hunting success with a rescue?

Below is a pic of one of my GSP's named TAZ. I am a member of the North Texas GSP Rescue group and got a call on Dec. 7, 2007 about a GSP being turned into a the pound. As I spoke to the lady at the pound in Amarillo, she stated that the man turning the dog in was still there. I convinced him to tak...

New Guy from the TX Panhandle

New to the site and looking forward to viewing and visiting about gun dogs...currently I have two GSP's and one Lab and love upland bird hunting. My oldest son is a professional bird dog trainer so I have access to many dogs. Here are my two GSP's Ike and Taz http://i596.photobucket.com/albums/tt49/...
