Private land access in Kansas for a day or two
For those of you that live out there or go regularly im wanting to go out there for the first time. Probably the 1st or 2nd week of the season. Im going to tackle public land but would like to hunt at least a day or two on some private land that i know has birds, not a preserve but a place that lets...

Thanks....I think I want to try it on public land but i think i need to find an outfitter or a land owner that will allow daily access on their land for a resonable fee. I would like to maybe hunt 1.5 to 2 days first on private land that i know has birds to get my dogs on some birds then i can take ...

North Central Kansas
Im thinking Kansas is going to be about as far as i can venture from GA this Year...looking into going in around North Central Area Maybe North of Hayes and a little more west....anyone hunted around these areas....is it recommend to try and just go hunt public land if you have never been out there ...

Im usually further south than that and haven't ran into any thank goodness...on my deer hunting land the farmer catches several they are always there because the rats eating grain...thats down in washington county

GA folks interested in a dog training/hunting lease
This is in Eatonton GA, 400 acres im going to look at the land Saturday would be a primary dog training/hunting just a good piece of land we could run dogs on. could probalby do some deer hunting but 1st priorty will be dogs. I haven't seen it in person but a few have went down and said they are in....

like said most of the ground varmits can be some what controlled with proper hunting and trapping....to bad there is no hawk and politician season the hawks have definitely came back in larger numbers and here in GA where the bird numbers are not what they used to besides habitat destruction they do...

I thought it was the breath that gave the most destinctive scent.....like yesterday we shot a double of quail...one bird was dead went in got the retreive...the second bird the went up an pointed the bird and I thought that was strange....when i got close enough it was just crippled and still alive....

Birds had plenty of water food was out probably for 1 day 2 at the most There is your problem. Adult birds can live on body fat for a day or three. What are the young ones who have stupendously high metabolisms supposed to live on? So the birds have to have food that day to make the milk...is it ju...

Birds had plenty of water food was out probably for 1 day 2 at the most but i know they eat more than they need since i have been free feeding them so it know it wouldn't hurt them. ( I keep pigeon grit out and feed a scratch that is corn, and other grains)...they are nice and fat im not really usin...

Well I finally had a bird lay 2 eggs....when to check on them today and they had hatched but both birds were dead...how common is this? This would be the bird first hatch....since i haven't been using the birds i have been free feeding them...ive been real busy and been about a day or 2 overdue for ...

Im not hunting with someone who doesn't have a dog or unless i know them personally and how their safety is....I just read the thread about Chief and I would probably be sitting in jail especially after the guy sent him the vest.

Founds some birds here in GA.....Liver shorthair is nelli almost 2. Ive got to figure out where is going to be easier for a do it yourself hunt...i need to narrow it down to MT,ND, KS I guess you just have to find out for yourself and go out and try and find birds....just stinks when you don't have long to stay and you've never been there before....

Its a shame when a good dog gets caught in a trap, but not a ferrel or coyote....unfortunately trapping is needed in a lot of parts...its a big reason why the quail have died out here in GA (because what habitat is left and where there are birds they are hit hard from predators) barely anyone traps ...

It will not be until next season before i can come out...its getting close to my wife's due date and i cant leave that far away....im trying to start researching and figure out where i want to hunt next season...i haven't tried to find the texas regulations yet...what are the season dates in TX

Thanks i would be bringing 2 to 3 dogs and hunt by foot. thanks aylaschamp.....thats what i was starting to think ive been searching around the web and it seems like everything is in a lease or a ranch...so you pay big $$$ or have to know someone which does 't work for me because i don't have either...

Looks good guys! Pretty place to train too! When you entering your first test? I didn't know they had to stand for the shot in the back field i just thought they had to be broke to wing...since im doing a few more hunts this year i don't want to try and start making her stand through the shot until...

Thanks i figured it would be quail....My friend is going out to visit his family this weekned most of his family mule deer hunts but he was going to ask them about bird hunting...I asked him a whole lot of questions he just said they live in a smaller town about 3 hours west of El Paso.

i teach whoa from the heel postion to begin with then overlay to the e collar....i then run the dog on a 20' CC and work whoa with the ecollar until they are reliable then i take them off the CC and work whoa some more...then onto bird work i used launchers and planted birds with the dog on the CC u...

thanks im going to go check out the area today...basically its just fescure filed but the edges are planted in milo then clear cut on one side im afraid if i drop the birds the will just fly to the clear cut im going to go release some today and well see how what they do...also this is public land a...

Just as a note i left my two launchers in the field over night and it rained pretty good and they are still working fine. (some things came up and i had to leave and just forgot they were out there) they are sealed pretty good there was some condinsation in the electornics area but i pulled the lid ...

the locate sound is not really loud but if you know the general area you put it in you should not have trouble finding it....I may see if i can do some video of one of them in action.
