I don't use a trainer and don't believe in it. I have seen a flat nylon slip collar similar to what you describe. Here's a sight with some flat and braided ones. I have never used these so can't provide much advise.

I'll let the more experienced speak to the training, but I would be interested to know if the dogs run big like that in the absence of other dogs. I have seen several dogs that would adjust to terrain, listen to commands etc. much better by themselves versus with bracemates....especially young dogs....

Pigeons! Pen quail are the root of all evil. Agree! The only way i have luck with quail is to keep them in a call back pen so you can rotate them out and let them stretch their wings and fly. The ones i have used that have been in a small pen have been crappy flyers and set you up for problems when...

Ol' Roy has a lamb based feed as has many of the companies that make more than one feed I believe. I couldn't find the dry food list, but the moist "lamb and rice" has chicken products listed before the lamb. I will let Dog Dr. speak specific to his procedures, but the "digital xrays" in humans are taken the exact same way as traditional xrays. The "digital" part comes after the xray is taken when the cassette is placed into a machine that copies it into a digital formatt so it can be viewed, copied etc....

I bought the Nikon D5000 at Christmas time and love it. I am certainly inexperienced enough to not be giving advice, but the difference in zoom ability and clarity in the DLR's with interchangeable lenses versus the regular digitals is huge. Best Buy and stores like that will usually have combo sale...

As far as Ezzy's post I agree to a certain point. I wouldn't let color sway you. Pick the dog you feel the best about. Color isn't gonna make them hunt harder or not as hard.
