Re: GSP Field Trialers Question
I will probably go over for a couple of days if the weather is good. I only live a 130 miles from the event. I definitely like to see the dogs run. I have watched most of these dogs run one time or another. It will great to see how they run under this format. I want to applaud Hayley for coming up w...

Re: GSP Field Trialers Question
Hearing through a few of the grapevines, a few things about this trial. They are looking to get 14 dogs on the list. Don't know if that is to solve any last minute dropouts from weather etc. The first and second day all dogs will run the entire hour. No pick ups for mistakes or infractions on birds...

Re: Field Trial Rankings - South Africa
If you never have been to trial in S.Africa, it is a must. It is all done on foot and the handler must be in good shape. You walk for several hours behind the dogs. You follow with your dog and when it comes to his turn the first two are picked up and then you put your dog down and so it goes with o...

pheasant hunting
I finally got rested up after the GSPCA Nationals and took my dog (NFC) Trey and Magic (10 year old dog) out pheasant hunting. I only hunted couple of hours but managed two pheasants before the Magic got into a skunk and that ended the day. I did see one 4x4 buck come out of weeds and stand 50 yards...

Re: GSP Field Trialers Question
I hope this does not happen. But, here is something, that may not have been thought of. What if you do not get the 12 dogs needed to run this championship. Is there a contingency plan? Under NGSPA rules you must have 12 dogs to run a shooting dog championship. Just food for thought.

Re: GSP Field Trialers Question
Just wondering what the GSP people's opinion is on a question I have. Do you put more of an emphisis on winning the AKC AA National at Eureka or the NGSPA AA National at Booneville? Would you rather win a FC in AKC or a Championship in the NGSPA? Reasons? Thanks. I have run at both Eureka and Boone...

TWH are by far the best horse for field trialing and a Fox Trotter is not far behind. I have found because of the pace of some stakes, very few horses including the above can go all day and last. You will find that Pro-trainers only ride their horses for a half a day. Person who judges or is plantin...

Vagas and others have made valid statements and I agee with most of them. I do not know, if prize money improves the breed one way or another, I leave that to others. But, field trials are put on by amateurs and without them we would not have field trials. On another note field trials were started b...

Ok, I'm not an AKC guy so bear with me....you actually give gifts to the JUDGES!!!! Seems a little odd to me! Yes, it is standard practice to give a gift to the judges at AKC trials. AKC recommends and I mean only recommends it is equal to the entry fee of the stake he is judging. You must remember...
