Re: Any intel on COVID19 impact on hunting season?
You know, I live in MA and do most of my bird hunting just over the border in CT. I'd better look into this. Cripes! I’ll say this in all seriousness. Turkey season last spring was a mess. Every state did something different. Some didn’t sell out of state tags, some closed state land to the public ...

You can bring a dog in if he runs too big, what you cant do is train him to handle the heat. If I were your son that would be the first thing I would make sure. I dont see Rymans handling heat very well. This is very good advice. Although I can brag about how well my setter adjusts his range, he cle...

Re: French Brittany pup help needed
The very first thing I'd do is get a check cord. I found some 1/4" nylon rope that had 1/8" steel cable in the middle of it. It made a fantastic check cord for real cheap...the pup could do figure 8s around chair legs and it won't tangle. About a 10 footer would be ideal for a 9 week old. It will he...

Oh man, this reminded me of the time just about exactly 5 years ago when I was in OP's shoes! I made a thread asking for advice the day that my setter Whip was months old and I couldn't kick him out from under foot to spot a woodcock that was walking right in front of us. Everyone told me to not wor...

Well said Shags. I agree 100% with CJ. Italy took a casual approach to C-19. The count today is 3000 dead …and counting! Some see 3000 simply as a number. If it's just ONE person in your family, suddenly it's much more than a number! Physical-distancing is REQUIRED - not social-distancing. If it is...

Fellow deadhead here OP and years back I was trimming my buddy's plants with him when I looked over and saw my Britt chewing down a nice lil' nugget. The problem with pointing dog photos is that we never capture what it is that makes every point special and exciting to see. The photos always lose something and turn out to be another photo of a dog standing on three legs looking off into space. Kind of the when you seen one you've seen them all t...

Max, did you right click on the image in imgur and select copy image address?
I resize the pic to 600 pixels on my computer before I save it to imgur. That makes it the proper size to begin with. Then copy the image address and paste it into the insert image tab.
Pretty simple really.

Fortunately, a water spray bottle does the trick with my setter. He HATES it and just pointing it at him makes him stop whatever he's doing.

A tick check after hunting is pretty standard practice Joe and they're easier to find than you'd imagine. Use a fine comb and also brush back the fur with your fingers esp around the neck and face area. Here in New England, the ticks weren't bad this year. In the past I've had as many as a couple do...

When I follow my Alpha 100 and find Whip's tail straight up on point, I read him. It's clear as a bell. If he makes the slightest move to look my way, the bird is either still some distance off, or was just there moments ago but it's not right there. When the bird is pinned 10ft away, not one hair m...
