Ive ran the 320/dc40 for years, no complaints in a myriad of terrain/weather. If it doesnt fit, just punch some new holes in it, no big deal.

I hunt pointers for grouse/woodcock, and some preserve pheasant during heavy snow years. Although I will shoot a hare that they point. I don't know what duck search means ? I hunt English pointers broke for grouse/woodcock but also preserve hunt pheasant/chuckar, steady waterfowl hunt (ducks/geese) and use the same English pointers to find canines and bobcats that are trapped and are tangled on drags. I would buy the birds to use in a controlled area and guarantee the outcome as per your training beliefs. Get your bird work in, get your gun breaking in and work on any weaknesses. Birds are good for the dog, but to many are not, as always quit a winner on a high note.

I would definetly join your local navdha chapter, especially if this is your first pointer. Also get some different books on training methods or programs that offer DVD's. A small kitbox style pigeon loft and half a dozen homers would be of greet help too.
