Re: My gsp eats way to fast!!!!
I had the same problem with mine. I just bought a bowl with the ridges that extend almost to the center. It slowed him waaaayyyy down. He never even gets through the whole bowl in 1 sitting anymore. It makes them work for the food a little.

While I agree that having a diverse vocabulary and not using double negatives is important, I have never understood why cussing bothers people. It is a word. A vibration that is interpreted by your brain as syllables and words. The whole notion that a word is so "bad" that you can't say it is actua...

Here is my deal with what I mean by phony. You walk out in the field and leave a trail of your scent. Then you set down in the grass this object that smells of metal, plastoc, bird scent and your scent and then grab a bird pit of your bag that's on your side so now the bird smells like you. This is...

Well for what it's worth, I fed Canidae, over a dollar per pound, to my GSP pup up to his 4th month. His gas was AWFUL. Never smelled anything like it, and the stools were very soft. I changed to Diamond Naturals EA, around ,85 per pound, and his stools have improved and the gas is 90 percent better...

Thanks. It was a world of difference from the few planted birds he's been on. He handled them VERY well, but in perfect conditions. This was much more useful I think. I'm hoping there will be a few in there tomorrow when the wind subsides, but who knows.

First wild bird exposure
My pup got his first "inadvertant" wild bird exposure today. I was letting him run in a 20 acre block that I walk him in regularly. Woodcock flights must be showing up, because we had about 6 contacts with one decent point. Wind was swirling at 20 mph and the birds didn't hold very tight, so he got ...

I've only had him on planted birds on 3 occasions, and he's done incredibly well. You're right about the one pic, he was right on the bird and was shaking like a leaf. I put him on a couple planted quail a few days ago and he did really well. He crept and bumped the first two, and then on the 3rd he...

The above result was very short lived. I went ahead and made the change to Diamond Naturals EA. I've been weaning him off the Canidae for the last two weeks, and he's now solely on the Diamond. He loves the stuff and the stools are much much better.

Well, maybe I didn't overstate how deep it was. Our veterinarian had to at least look at him before I could get the antibiotics, and the pup ended up with a couple of stitches to close it up. The cut had an arched shape and curved back under the pad. Glad I took him in now. No sense in taking any ch...

What style/material/brand of collar do y'all use? The pup's growing so fast right now that I've just been using the low priced nylon/plastic snap collars until he's ready for an adult collar which won't be too long. Just want something strong, safe, and comfortable.....looks come last.

As long as it didn't cut muscle just keeping it cleaned is the best thing, you would be surprised at how deep cuts can look and not be as bad as it one would think. I'm from Southern WV, and numbers are definitely not what they were in the 80's or early 90's. Strip mining reclamation and logging operations have helped to bring numbers back up in the last 10 years or so, but nothing like I saw as a kid. IMHO, when coyotes showed up on the scene in the early 90's...

I just asked the question about the LCS ecollar, but I've decided against it based on 4 stim levels.
My GSP is 4.5 months. What is more important at this point? Remote launcher or e collar? I'm sure opinions will vary, but humor me please. I need to make a decision quick.
