Re: Pup making weird noises in his crate
Haha that's funny. I keep my pups inside for most of the day. They probably spend 3 hours outside during the week supervised. They go out training and back in the crate. I must be the worst owner ever. I won't let them Out around the house till they are two years old.

First wild bird hunt with the puppy
Took Tac out for his first hunt. Let my female kimber find a covey while he was in the box and shot one for her (seniority has its perks). put her up and let the little man roll. Came up a small wash not five min in and he was standing. He had never been on wild birds before and just stuck that bird...

Re: Field trial question...kind of a weird one.
Figured if you wanted a dog to bark you would allow them to do it around your trailer, house etc. I hunt more then you think on those pesky valley quail. Not too many hour stakes being run in Southern California unless you own a Brittany for that one stake they have usually. Never said "topic dog" w...

Didn't Riggins White Knight do something like this in the National Championship? This was before my time, but I think I remember a story about him barking on point or barking after the birds left. Re: Field trial question...kind of a weird one.
My pup was thrown out for being gone 6-7 min in a gun dog stake, to the front just running a shooting dog brace. So to be thrown out for a dog barking after a bird takes off wouldn't be too rough , I think I could handle
It.

I am by no means a trialer. I am a hunter. I don't understand why you would want your dog so far out in front of you that you couldn't see it. I like my dogs to work with/for me, not hunting out on their own. Why post in a trial topic if you don't .... Trial or have experience with it? Kinda like m...

If you are going to hunt quail in Texas, you are going to pay. In time it will be that way throughout the country. There is no logic in expecting taxpayers to furnish us with land and game to hunt. Private landowners should be compensated. Private landowners are compensated with subsidies, price su...

Ran kimber Tactical in puppy this weekend at Kistler Ranch. First place in puppy (16 dogs) and First in Open Gun Dog. Too bad he went birdless in AGD or he might have had a great weekend. But I won't complain. He's still only 13 months.

Wild bird venue (Idaho, Montana, Dakotas, ?), same place or rotate - no matter, fall or spring is fine - if I had to pick I'd say early fall as it usually brings heat/conditioning more into the mix. Give me the reins, we'll get 'er on the schedule. :D http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s55/d...

Calico's Lady Belle lived to 12 and did it until she died. Helluva good dog, BTW, a field trial reject. Had a cannon for a nose, could run all day, and over the hill honest. Belle would stand on a bird for as long as it took for me to find her and get to her. Amazing, how those "field trial reject"...

When they are young I would use both... One to sleep in at night and the wire one for when you are home. I haven't had a puppy pee through the wire unless there was a visitor he decided he needed to pee on. That was completely my fault but I was laughing and did not reprimanded him for doing so.

You obviously didn't get what you thought you paid for. Nicely bred vizslas go $1500-2000, ones health garanteed, titled parents, they usually come with breeders that will take care of this way before you go on a forum posting about problems.
Not a BS comment. Just don't sugar coat.

I would say if you are working planted birds you should do 20% (i guess that's what I always tip when I go out).
