At our kennel, we had a long, low fence to keep the ducks in and offer the Banties refuge. The fence was only 2-3 feet high. The chickens just flew over it and the dog's stopped at it. No problem.

Hickok and Perfection. Both pretty much match how I train. A training program has to fit the trainer more than the dog. Any dog can go through any program, it's the TRAINER that is the wild card.

I hope you understand that if he is a Bluetick Hound, they are bred to give voice on track and you will probably never stop the dog from doing that. If he is just a ticked Shepard, you may break him. I'm having a hard time understanding why you would want a hound as a cattle dog?

If you take a tip from the retriever trainers and use a heeling stick, things go quickly. You have given the dog a visual barrier, making it clear to the dog exactly where his place is. I pinch collar and choke chain do the same thing but in my opinion, not in as clear a manor.
