"On a side note Karl, have they got my new fence up along the road yet? I have been gone a few weeks." I'll run by there and check. I may be oversimplifying the whole deal, but here is my two cents. Dogs that I have owned have always had natural point and natural retrieve from the time that they are first exposed to birds. However, we as owners refine those natural abilities. A puppy will point and perhaps even stand their birds...

Glad you found the pup......that is a terrible feeling. I would suggest the Garmin. I have name plates on all of my dogs collars, but that relies on honest people calling me if they find the dog. A chip would not only require honest people, but them taking them to a vet and having them scanned. I wo...

The Vet is always the best option, but Benedryl is second best......easy to get and keep on hand. Ask a vet to verify, but I think 1mg per pound is the advised dosage for dogs.

FWIW........I am in the truck business.........didn't throw in my personal preference........but gave solid advice on the Ford. If it is 7.3L, you will be happy towing. Don't buy a Dodge. Don't consider a Toyota.

I guess everyone has their opinion about what would constitute a "Rusty" bred dog. Rusty was whelped in 1978. Showing up once in a pedigree doesn't equate to being a Rusty bred dog......IMO.

I am assuming it has the diesel engine, but which one? Fords that had the 7.3L powerstroke had tons of people that swore by them. When Ford went to the 6.0L they experienced lots of injector problems and head issues. The miles are not an issue if it is a diesel engine. If you are buying it from an i...

IMO, there are tons of factors to consider. Most should be thought out BEFORE buying a pup, but that doesn't always happen. I doubt if anyone here is saying that ONLY a professional can train a bird dog, but I would submit that it is easier to train correctly initially than "undo" a mistake. It blow...

The field people I had spent time with didn't mind if you used their name in the registration, but it certainly wasn't a requirement. I have decided tha...

No science, but even with a full roof, the dogs will get plenty of sun. Roof above will only block most of the sun while it is overhead. Lots of sun will get in when it is rising and setting. I had a wise old guy advise me to build a full roof kennel with a walls on the north and west side, but open...
