Can't judge what you didn't see, warm,cold or otherwise. Leave them both down and wait for it,it will happen again if it's naughty behavior,when it happens again................ get the hook or scratch the dog off the use list.Benefit of doubt goes to the dog on the first go around.

The saying if it ain't broke,don't fix it pops into mind. I myself would pass on those birds and step up the game in your own loft as far as breeding to increase your allready healty flock. I'd try that before I bought or aquired for free birds that came from a source with health issues.

I agree that it's a training issue,the pointing labs I've seen exhibited more desire to retrieve than point,they semi point naturally but the retrieving is 100% natural.The obiediance of sitting until told otherwise is what is lacking in these ill mannered duck blind dogs.

I have skeeter problems here and use a cattle spray called Permetherin,you can apply it to the animal or use it as an area spray,I use it on the lawn and kennell area and it works pretty good,it works for quite awhile provided it doesn't rain to much.I did 2 aplications last year one about this time...

I'd advise against the slam latches,it's what I've got and I haven't had an escape but one is possible if care is not taken to check and doublecheck.My doors are on an angle and have gas shocks for holding the doors open as well as closed because they are slightly over center in the closed position....
